Your phone is full of pictures of your dog. And still, none of them feel like enough.
Because the images you have don't hold the weight of what you actually share - the quiet morning routines, the steady presence, the way your home feels entirely different because they are in it.
And somewhere in the back of your mind sits a quiet worry: they won't always be this young, this well, this fully here. The window you keep meaning to act on is already moving.

Not because portraits are a luxury. Because the love you share is real, enduring, and worth preserving in a form that outlasts a phone upgrade.
Digital files get lost. Artwork gets inherited. The difference is not just aesthetic, it’s the difference between a memory that fades and a legacy that stays.
Legacy Hound was created for the dog parents who already know this. Who feel the weight of that bond and want something real to show for it.

Legacy Portrait Art is a portrait studio built specifically for dogs and the people who love them without apology.
We have spent years learning how to translate the personality, loyalty, and quiet magic of a dog into finished artwork that genuinely belongs on the walls of a beautiful home.
Every part of the experience is designed to feel calm, personal, and beautifully guided. You will never wonder what happens next, or whether it was worth it.

Finished artwork made

Museum-quality fine art prints and paintings, sized and finished to become the centerpiece of a room. These are the art pieces guests notice . . . and ask about.

A curated collection of your portraits, bound in a leather album designed to live where life happens . . . on a coffee table, within reach, revisited for years. Not a yearbook, a keepsake.

A luxuriously finished collection of fine art prints, matted and presented in a handcrafted keepsake box. The kind of thing you set out on a table and never put away.

Portraits that live

Not urgently. Not dramatically. Just quietly, the way all the best things change before we notice.
The dog in your home right now - healthy, affectionate, fully themselves - deserves to be documented at their finest. Not eventually. Now.
The families who come to us most gratefully are the ones who decided not to wait one more season.

"The portrait session was the best gift I’ve ever given myself. He was only seven. I am so thankful we have this beautiful reminder of the love he brought into our lives."
— ASHLEY P.

If something isn't answered here, we'd love to talk it through. A Discovery Call is always the clearest next step - no pressure, just clarity.
Completely. It's one of the most common things we hear - and it usually comes from years of being told to downplay what matters most. Your dog is your loyal companion, and they won't be here forever. You deserve to have something real to hold onto. What clients tell us most often is how safe and validating this experience feels: no minimizing, no explaining yourself. If you want to talk it through without any pressure, a Discovery Call is a good place to start.
We're gifting you the experience; there's no session fee. Your deposit holds your date and is applied in full toward your artwork. It includes the planning support that makes the whole experience feel calm: guidance on location, how to style your dog, how to prepare, and what to expect. As for buying, there's no pressure and no obligation. You won't make any decisions until you see your portraits at your View and Order appointment. The deposit is simply the moment you stop postponing what matters.
After you’ve booked your experience, we’ll start with a Discovery Call. We'll talk through your dog's personality, what you're hoping to feel when you see your portraits, and what you'd love to live with in your home. It's where clarity begins, so you're not guessing, and you know exactly what to expect before you commit to anything. Most clients tell us the call itself felt like a relief.
Groom your dog however you love them to look day to day, that's usually the right direction. When you arrive, plan to take your dog out for a short walk first so they can decompress before we begin. Bring treats they love, a favorite toy, and their leash. If there's something meaningful to your bond, a collar, a blanket, something with a story, tell us on the Discovery Call, and we'll talk through whether to include it. We'll handle the rest.
You don't have to wait. So many dog parents put this off because they're worried their dog won't cooperate, and that fear makes sense. But perfect behavior isn't required here. Our studio is private by appointment, so there are no other dogs coming in and out during your time. We plan the experience around your dog's actual temperament, not an ideal version of them, and we move at a pace that feels safe. If your dog is anxious, reactive, or high-energy, tell us on the Discovery Call, and we'll build a plan that supports them.
Yes, and many clients are grateful they said yes. Making it a family portrait is even more meaningful - your pup is a family member, after all! You don't have to be in them, but the relationship is the story, and your dog looks at you like you're their whole world. We guide you gently the entire time: where to stand, how to connect, what to do with your hands. The focus stays on devotion, not posing. Many clients who came in nervous tell us they forgot the camera was there.
Simple, solid colors photograph beautifully. We recommend darker tones so your face is the first thing people see, and colors that contrast with your dog's coat rather than blending into it. Skip the busy patterns and logos. The goal isn't to look like someone else - it's to look like the best version of you. Dress up a little, make it feel like the occasion it is, and we'll talk through the details on your planning call so you arrive feeling confident and ready.
Yes. Two dogs are welcome and work well together in the studio. Three or more is a bigger undertaking and will likely require a composited image to get everyone looking their best at the same time. If you'd like to bring three or more, just mention it on your Discovery Call, and we'll plan accordingly so nothing feels rushed or chaotic.
You'll see your portraits the same day, immediately after your session. You move straight from creating the portraits into your View and Order appointment, where we guide you through finding your favorites and choosing artwork that fits your home and what you want to feel every day. You're not left alone with a gallery and a hundred decisions; we help you choose well. This is the only time during which your $500 studio credit can be applied toward your artwork, so it's the ideal moment to choose everything you truly want to bring home. Please make sure all decision makers are present so you can choose together with confidence. Plan for about one hour for the Portrait Experience and one hour for the View and Order appointment. Most artwork is delivered within 10-12 weeks.
Yes, please. We ask that all decision makers be present at your View and Order appointment. This is where your retainer and studio credit are applied, and where all artwork selections are made. Having everyone there means you can choose together with confidence, and no one feels left out of a decision they care about. If you have any concerns about scheduling, bring them up on your Discovery Call, and we'll find the best plan.
Artwork for the wall starts at $1,500 before any credits are applied, and most families invest between $2,000 and $4,500, depending on their selections at their View and Order appointment. Payment plans are available; we'll keep it simple and clear, and you'll know all your options before you decide. We accept cash, check, card, and Affirm.
We don't deliver a folder of every file, and that's intentional. Instead of leaving you to sort through hundreds of images alone, you'll see your portraits and choose your favorites with our Art Director's guidance at your View and Order appointment. The end result isn't a hard drive of maybes. It's finished artwork - a wall portrait, a bespoke album, or a treasure box - that has a real place in your home and your life. Social media-sized digital files of your finished portraits are offered, so you can share the ones that matter most. That's the difference between a memory that fades and a legacy that stays.
Clients come to us from OKC and Tulsa all the time, and the same-day experience is a big part of why the drive feels worth it. You come in, we create your portraits, and you select your portraits right then...no second trip, no loose ends. Our studio in Stillwater is a private, calm space that's intentionally different from what you'd find closer to home. For the clients who want something that truly matters, the drive is part of the decision to do it right.
